Historical evolution on alopecia of diagnosis and treatment with Chinese medicine

Abstract:The earliest written records of alopecia in Chinese medicine can be found in Huangdi Neijing period, developed in Han and Sui Dynasties, matured in Tang, Song, Jin and Yuan Dynasties, until Ming and Qing Dynasties clearly proposed the names of the diseases of alopecia areata and androgenetic alopecia that have been used until now. The evolution process from deficiency to fullness, until modern times, the formation of syndromes represented by liver and kidney deficiency, damp-heat fumigation, phlegm and blood stasis, blood-heat and wind-dryness are represented. Clinical treatment has been greatly developed in Tang and Song Dynasties, and dozens of prescriptions have appeared. Modern treatment is to use multiple methods, combine acupuncture and medicine, combined treatment and prevention, and take care of the whole and part. This article check carefully the opinion from famous Chinese medical scientists since the writing of Huangdi Neijing to modern times, clarifies the historical cognition, and summarizes the clinical law of Chinese medicine for the treatment of alopecia. It hopes to provide some ideas for the treatment of alopecia by Chinese medicine and provides some basis for modern research on classic prescriptions.
