Abstract:Objective To study the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine combined with antibiotics in the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM) patients complicated with pulmonary infection after chemotherapy. Methods A total of 80 patients with MM complicated with pulmonary infection who received chemotherapy in Cangzhou Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine of Hebei Province from October 2017 to October 2019 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Cefazoxime antimicrobials, and the observation group was treated with Guilong Kechuaning Tablets on the basis of control group. The effective rate of treatment, time to improvement of clinical symptoms, the levels of respiratory indexes (dynamic lung compliance [CDyn], airway resistance [RAW], mean airway pressure [Pmean] and response frequency [Fres]) and inflammatory factors (interleukin-6 [IL-6], tumor necrosis factor-α [TNF-α]) were compared between two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the time of fever, shortness of breath, cough and expectoration and wet rale-disappearing in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there were no significant differences in respiratory indexes, IL-6 and TNF-α levels between the two groups (P > 0.05). After treatment, CDyn levels in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and the observation group was higher than the control group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). The levels of RAW, Pmean, Fres, IL-6 and TNF-α in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Conclusion Guilong Kechuaning Tablets combined with Cefazoxime antimicrobials in the treatment of MM complicated with pulmonary infection after chemotherapy can effectively improve the duration of clinical symptoms and respiratory function indexes, reduce the expression level of serum inflammatory factors, and improve the clinical efficacy of patients.
