Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of health education based on the strong concept on self-management and treatment compliance behaviors of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated with tuberculosis. Methods A total of 120 COPD patients with pulmonary disease tuberculosis admitted to the Fourth People’s Hospital of Huai’an from January 2018 to February 2020 were selected and divided into intervention group 60 cases and control group 60 cases by random number table method. The control group was given regular health education, and the intervention group jointly applied health education based on the strength concept. Follow up for six months the self-management efficacy and treatment compliance behavior of the two groups were compared. Results After six months of follow-up, the intervention group actually completed the follow-up of 58 cases, and the control group actually completed the follow-up of 56 cases. The scores of self-management efficacy in both groups were higher than those before education (all P < 0.05). The scores of dyspnea management, emotional fluctuations, physical activity, environment and temperature, and self-management efficacy total scores in the intervention group were higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). The treatment compliance behavior scores of the two groups were higher than those before education (P < 0.05). The scores of the intervention group’s compliance with medication, self-monitoring, regular follow-ups, behavior changes, and treatment compliance total score were higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Health education based on the strong concept will help to promote the self-management efficacy of patients with COPD complicated with tuberculosis and improve treatment compliance behavior.
