Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of management intervention based on tracking methodology on the core competence training of nursing staff and the quality of nursing management. Methods A total of 3270 patients admitted to the branch of the Huai’an First People’s Hospital, Jiangsu Province (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”) from January to December 2017 were selected as the control group, a total of 3380 patients admitted to our hospital from January to December 2018 were selected as the intervention group, at the same time, 12 head nurses and 84 nursing staff of our hospital were selected. The control group implemented routine management, and the intervention group implemented management intervention based on tracking methodology. After one year of intervention, the head nurses and core abilities, nursing quality and nursing adverse events were compared of the two groups. Results After one year of intervention, the core abilities scores of head nurses and nurses were higher than before intervention (P < 0.05); the scores of basic nursing, specialty nursing, and safety nursing were significantly higher than those before the intervention (P < 0.05); the incidence of nursing errors, nursing complaints, and nursing disputes was significantly lower than before the intervention (P < 0.05). Conclusion Management intervention based on tracking methodology is helpful to promote the cultivation of nursing staff’s core competence, improve the quality of care, and prevent the occurrence of adverse nursing events.
