Abstract:Objective To understand the contraceptive ability and service demand of college students in the new era, and to improve the reproductive health education and service for college students in the future. Methods A total of 200 valid questionnaires powered by questionnaire star were collected from students of a university in Nanjing on September 25, 2020. Results The premarital sex self-report rate of college students was 18.50%, and 42.00% of the subjects were opposed to premarital sex. The top five contraceptive methods were condoms, emergency contraceptives, compound oral contraceptives, safe period contraception, and in vitro sperm drainage. The correct knowledge rate of contraceptive knowledge was 20.00%-82.00%. The most concerned features of subjects when choosing contraceptive methods were “good contraceptive effect” and “small side effects”. 69.00% of the subjects were chosed condoms. The subject’s contraceptive knowledge currently mainly came from the Internet (60.00%), but they would hope to obtain knowledge through various channels such as lectures, elective courses, exhibitions or promotional activities, and the Internet. They would also hope to obtain contraceptives through self-service sales points (36.50%). Conclusion In the new era, college students have open sex concepts, inadequate contraceptive abilities, and a surge in contraceptive demand. It is necessary to further strengthen policy guidance and demand orientation, and multi-sectoral cooperation to jointly improve the level of reproductive health education and services for college students.
