Abstract:Objective To measure and analyze the operational efficiency of secondary public hospitals in a central province (SX) of China, to improve the efficiency of hospital service to provide decision-making reference. Methods A total of 154 secondary general hospitals in SX Province were taken as the research objects, a total of four input indicators and three output indicators of 2018 were selected for data envelopment analysis (DEA), hospital operating efficiency were measured. Results The mean values of comprehensive technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of secondary public hospitals in SX Province were 0.857, 0.904 and 0.946, respectively. A total of 33 hospitals (21.43%) were in the DEA effective state, and 121 hospitals (78.57%) were in the non-DEA effective state. Conclusion The overall efficiency of secondary hospitals in SX Province was relatively high, and hospitals with diminishing returns of scale account for the largest proportion of secondary hospitals. It is necessary to focus on the risk of scale expansion, further improve the level of management, and strengthen tiered diagnosis and treatment.
