Abstract:Objective To observe the efficacy on acupuncture of Lingshu Kaihe in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with cold-dampness blockage pattern. Methods A total of 117 patients with knee osteoarthritis with cold-dampness blockage pattern admitted to the Third Department of Orthopedics, the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University of Chinese Medicine from February 2018 to February 2020 were selected. They were randomly divided into two groups by computer. There were 59 cases in the treatment group (acupuncture of Lingshu Kaihe), and 58 cases in the control group (ordinary acupuncture treatment), all of which were treated for two weeks. Visual analogue scale (VAS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities osteoarthritis index (WOMAC) scale scores, interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) levels were recorded before and after treatment to evaluate knee pain and improvement of knee symptoms in the two groups. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared. Results After treatment, VAS, the score of WOMAC scale, and the levels of IL-1 and TNF-α in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and VAS and the score of WOMAC scale in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance (all P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in IL-1 and TNF-α between the two groups after treatment (P > 0.05). The total effective rate of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture of Lingshu Kaihe has a definite clinical effect in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with cold-dampness blockage pattern, and its effect is superior to ordinary acupuncture treatment in relieving symptoms.
