The control group used routine nursing care, and the observation group used Neuman theory-based nursing intervention to compare the changes in anxiety and depression mood of the two groups. Results The self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS) scores of the two groups after nursing were significantly lower than those before nursing, and the SAS and SDS scores of the observation group after nursing were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The paranoia, hostility, horror, somatization, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive symptoms and interpersonal relationship after nursing in the two groups were significantly lower than those before nursing, the depression and psychosis of the observation group were lower than those before nursing; the observation group after nursing was horrified, somatized, anxiety, depression, psychosis, interpersonal, the relationship scores were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The nursing satisfaction rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Nursing intervention based on Neuman’s theory is effective when applied to patients after total hysterectomy, which can effectively alleviate patients’ negative emotions, improve mental status, and increase satisfaction.
