Application effect of situational health education in gastrointestinal function exercise for patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery

Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of situational health education in gastrointestinal function exercise for patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery. Methods A total of 82 patients who planned to undergo elective gastrointestinal surgery in the Affiliated Huai’an No.1 People’s Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2018 to June 2019 were selected as the subjects. By random number table method, 44 cases were divided into experimental group and 38 cases were control group. Both groups were given preoperative and postoperative gastrointestinal function exercise. The control group was treated with routine gastrointestinal function exercise and health education methods such as centralized or individual instruction, and the experimental group adopted the health education method of scenario simulation. The recovery time of gastrointestinal function, length of hospital stay, gastrointestinal complications and patient satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The first anal exhaust time, bowel sound recovery time, first defecation time and hospital stay in the experimental group were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05); the incidence of gastrointestinal complications was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05); the satisfaction of experimental group was higher than that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Gastrointestinal function exercise scenario simulation health education is helpful to promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients with gastrointestinal surgery, reduce the incidence of gastrointestinal complications, and improve patient satisfaction.
