Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of whole course nutritional support on the treatment tolerance and radiotherapy effect of advanced lung cancer patients. Methods A total of 108 patients with advanced lung cancer who admitted to Lianyungang Second People’s Hospital from January 2017 to December 2018 were selected as objects. They were divided into control group and treatment group according to the random number table method, with 54 cases in each group. The control group was treated with chemoradiotherapy alone, the treatment group was treated with whole course nutritional support while undergoing chemoradiotherapy. The clinical efficacy of two groups after treatment was compared. The Karnofsky performance status (KPS) scores and serum levels of prealbumin (PA) and albumin (ALB) of two groups before and after treatment were compared. The radiotherapy interruption rates, radiotherapy total days, chemotherapy completion numbers and acute radiological response rate of the two groups were compared. Results The total remission rate in treatment group was higher than that of control group (P < 0.05). The KPS scores of two groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment, and the KPS scores of treatment group after treatment were higher than those of control group (all P < 0.05). After treatment the levels of PA and ALB of control group were lower than those before treatment, the levels of treatment group were higher than those before treatment, and the levels of PA and ALB of treatment group were higher than those of control group (all P < 0.05). The radiotherapy interruption rate of treatment group was lower than that of control group, the radiotherapy total days were less than those of control group, and the number of completed chemotherapy was higher than that of control group (all P < 0.05). The incidence rate of myelosuppression, acute gastrointestinal reactions and acute radioactive proctitis in treatment group were lower than those of control group (all P < 0.05). Conclusion Whole course nutritional support can significantly improve the radiotherapy effect and treatment tolerance of patients with advanced lung cancer, improve the quality of life and nutritional status, and reduce the acute radiation response.
