Abstract:Objective To assess the cleaning efficacy of bowel preparation of sulfate free polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution before colonoscopy. Methods From September 2017 to April 2019, 105 patients undergoing colonoscopy in digestive endoscopy center, the Forth Hospital of Anhui Medical University were consecutively collected and they were devided into SF-PEG group (group A) and polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution group (PEG-ES, group B). In group A, 3 L SF-PEG was taken orally in morning and night, while in group B, 1.5 L PEG-ES was taken orally in A single time on the examination day. The bowel preparation effect, completion time of colonoscopy and polyp detection rate of the two groups were observed. Results The right colonic scores, left colonic scores and total scores of group B were higher than those of group A, and the differences were all statistically significant (all P < 0.05); there was no significant difference in transverse colon score between the two groups (P > 0.05). The completion time of colonoscopy in group A was longer than that in group B, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the detection rate of intestinal polyps between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion Both regimens could provide adequate bowel preparation. Compared with 1.5 L PEG-ES taken orally on the examination day, intestinal preparation quality of 3 L SF-PEG taken orally in morning and night is lower.
