Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of pharmaceutical care on the treatment effect and self-management behavior of patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods One hundred and thirty-two patients with type 2 diabetes admitted to the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University from June 2018 to June 2019 were selected, they were divided into control group (n = 66, routine monitoring) and monitoring group (n = 66, pharmaceutical monitoring + routine monitoring) by random number table method, all patients were monitored for six months. Clinical indexes, drug compliance, incidence of irrational drug use, self-management, satisfaction with pharmaceutical care and incidence of hypoglycemia were compared between two groups. Results After intervention, the levels of 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, fasting plasma glucose, body mass index, glycosylated hemoglobin, systemic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure in two groups were lower than those before intervention, and those in monitoring group were lower than those in control group (P < 0.05). Total compliance rate of monitoring group after intervention was higher than that of control group (P < 0.05). The incidence of irrational drug use in monitoring group after intervention was lower than that in control group (P < 0.05). The proportion of daily blood glucose monitoring, reasonable diet, medication compliance and adequate sleep in monitoring group after intervention was higher than that in control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the proportion of exercise rule between two groups after intervention (P > 0.05). After intervention, the total satisfaction of monitoring group was higher than that of control group (P < 0.05), and the incidence of hypoglycemia of monitoring group was lower than that of control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion The pharmaceutical care model developed in this study for type 2 diabetic patients is helpful to control blood glucose, promote rational drug use, significantly improve the self-management behavior of patients.
