Application of emergency care simulator combined case based study in anesthesia teaching

Abstract:Objective To explore the guiding role and teaching effect of applying emergency care simulator combined case based study to undergraduates of anesthesiology before clinical practice. Methods From September 2019 to January 2020, 50 students in the fifth grade of anesthesiology major who were interned in the First Clinical Medical College of Inner Mongolia Medical University were selected as subjects. They were randomly divided into EC group and control group, with 25 students in each group. The training will be conducted by the same teacher. Control group was adopted the traditional teaching method and EC group was adopted the emergency care simulator combined case based study method. The teaching effect of two groups were evaluated and the teaching satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results The scores of theoretical knowledge, practical skills and teaching satisfaction in EC group were all higher than those in control group (all P < 0.05). Conclusion The application of emergency care simulator combined case based study in anesthesia teaching has a significant effect, which is helpful to consolidate the theoretical knowledge, enhance the practical skills, improve the quality of anesthesia teaching and the teaching satisfaction significantly. It is worth applying and popularizing in teaching.
