Abstract：At present, antidepressants are mainly used for the treatment of depression. The toxic and side effects caused by long-term use of chemical drugs have become increasingly prominent. The mild drug properties and low toxic and side effects of traditional Chinese medicines have gradually applied them to the field of antidepression. In the Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases, prescriptions related to Chaihu mainly include Xiaochaihu Decoction, Dachaihu decoction, Chaihu Guizhi Decoction, Chaihu Guizhi Longgu Muli Decoction, Sini Powder, and so on. Taking the main syndrome as the main principle, formulating the prescription, skillfully using the matched pair of medicine, combining with external treatment, Professor Li Xia is good at applying the prescription related to Chaihu from the perspective of treatment in accordance with patient′s individuality and treatment based on syndrome differentiation, showing unique curative effect in the treatment of depression. This article intends to summarize professor Li Xia′s experience in using prescription related to Chaihu to treat depression, with a view to help the clinic.
