Abstract:Comedo mastitis, includes plasma cell mastitis, granulomatous mastitis, and some rare inflammatory breast diseases, such as IgG4-related sclerosing mastitis and sclerosing lymphocytic lobular mastitis. The cause is still controversial, however, based on domestic and foreign literature study, this disease may be an immune-related disease. This paper reviews the correlation between comedo mastitis and organic immunity and the immunomodulatory effects of traditional Chinese medicine on this disease in recent ten years were reviewed. It was found that T cell mediated cellular immunity, B cell mediated humoral immunity and secretion of various cytokines, immune proteins and complement all participated in the pathological process with certain regularity. By giving full play to the advantages and characteristics of the combination of internal and external treatments and focusing on treatments by stages and syndrome differentiation, traditional Chinese medicine can significantly improve the immune status, shorten the course of the disease and improve the prognosis. This paper reviews the correlation between comedo mastitis and body immunity and the immunomodulatory effects of traditional Chinese medicine. Therefore, the immunological mechanism can be used as the research direction of comedo mastitis, and the traditional Chinese medicine is an effective method for this disease.
