Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of multipletumor-suppressor gene1 P16 and proliferating cellnuclear antigen Ki-67 and the prognosis of rectal cancer patients. Methods From August 2016 to December 2018, postoperative tumors and adjacent normal tissues of 60 patients with rectal cancer were selected from the First People′s Hospital of Xiaoshan District of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of P16 and Ki-67. The positive rates of P16 and Ki-67 in different ages, pathological types, TNM stages, degree of differentiation and lymph node metastasis were observed. The survival of P16 and Ki-67 positive patients and negative patients one year after surgery was compared. Finally, the correlation between P16 and Ki-67 was analyzed by Spearman coefficient. Results The positive rates of P16 and Ki-67 in colorectal cancer tissues were significantly higher than that in paracancer normal tissues (P < 0.05). TNM staging in patients with stage Ⅲ, high degree of differentiation P16 and Ki-67 were significantly higher than that of TNM stage Ⅱ, low-differentiation in patients (P < 0.05); the Ki-67 positive rate of patients with lymph node metastasis was significantly higher than that of patients without lymph node metastasis, and the P16 positive rate of patients with lymph node metastasis was significantly higher than that of patients without lymph node metastasis(all P < 0.05). The survival rate of P16 negative patients was significantly higher than that of positive patients (P < 0.05). The one-year survival rate of Ki-67 positive patients was significantly lower than that of negative patients (P < 0.05). There was no correlation between the expression of P16 and Ki-67 in rectal cancer tissues (r = 0.157, P = 0.461). Conclusion The expression levels of P16 and Ki-67 in rectal cancer tissues are closely related to the clinicopathological features of rectal cancer, which may provide reference for the clinical treatment and prognosis evaluation of rectal cancer.
