Abstract:Objective To design the hanging type dressing change bracket and observe its application in dressing change of orthopedic patients. Methods From January to June 2018,80 cases with trauma patients who were admitted to Department of Orthopedics, Haikou People′s Hospital were enrolled. They were divided into the observation group and the control group, according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The observation group assisted by the self-designed hanging type dressing change bracket to assist the dressing change, and the control group was assisted by the medical staff to lift the injured limb dressing. The differences in comfort level, average duration of the doctor′s dressing change and the number of assistants needed were compared between the two groups. Results The comfort level scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group and the difference was highly statistically significant (P < 0.01). There was no significant difference in average duration of the doctor′s dressing change between the two groups (P > 0.05). The doctors did not need an assistant when changing the dressing in the observation group, while the control group needed assistants (1-2 people) when changing the dressing, and the difference was highly statistically significant (P < 0.01). Conclusion The self-designed hanging type dressing change bracket assists the doctor to change the medicine for the patients with orthopedic lower limb injury, which can increase the comfort of the patient during dressing change and effectively save the labor of the medical staff.
