Abstract：Objective To translate the parental stressor scale of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version. Methods The English version of the parental stressor scale of NICU was translated, back translated, cross-culturally adjusted, pre-investigated and other processes to form a Chinese version. The convenient sampling method was used to select the parents of 118 children who were hospitalized in the NICU of the Tangdu Hospital of the Air Force Military Medical University from June 2018 to June 2019. The questionnaire was surveyed, while the reliability and validity of the scale were evaluated. Results The Chinese version of the parental stressor scale of the NICU has 3 dimensions and 25 entries. The correlation coefficient between each item and the total score were 0.339-0.589 (P ＜ 0.05), and the decision value were 3.652-8.883 (P ＜ 0.05). The total content validity was 0.961, while the content validity of the three dimensions were 0.989, 0.924, 1.000, respectively, and the content validity of each item were 0.843-1.000. Exploratory factor analysis extracted a total of three common factors with a characteristic root＞1, the cumulative contribution rate was 67.136%. The total Cronbach′α coefficient of the scale was 0.856, the Cronbach′α coefficients of each dimension were 0.841, 0.815, 0.774, respectively, the half-fold reliability was 0.825. Conclusion The parental stressor scale of Chinese NICU has better reliability and validity. It can be used as a survey tool to evaluate the exposure of parents with stressors in the NICU and to understand the psychological characteristics of parents.
