Progress on the application of neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio in bacterial pneumonia

Abstract:The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has become one of the recognized effective indicators of systemic inflammatory response. More and more evidence shows that NLR is a simple and practical index which can accurately diagnose bacterial pneumonia and evaluate the severity and prognosis of patients. It is also valuable to distinguish different pathogens. So it especially has universal clinical significance for primary hospitals. This article reviews the role of NLR in the diagnosis, condition and prognosis evaluation of bacterial pneumonia, aiming to provide evidence and reference for the clinical application of NLR.
