Competency-oriented analysis of learning needs of standardized training residents

Abstract:Objective To investigate the current situation and learning needs of resident standardization training in Shanghai Changhai Hospital with guide of competency. Methods A total of 128 standardized training residents were selected from Shanghai Changhai Hospital in October 2018 to conducted a questionnaire survey by systematic sampling, including the present situation of the standardized training, learning needs and suggestions on the training work and so on. Results The 128 questionnaires were distributed and the recovery rate was 100%. 88.28% of the standardized training residents worked more than 40 hours a week in clinical practice. 27.34% of the standardized training residents came into contact with teachers more than 40 hours a week. 78.90% of the standardized training residents always or often carried out clinical work under their direct guidance of the teachers. 83.59% of the standardized training residents believed that it was necessary to strengthen the training of the teachers. 62.50% of the standardized training residents was more looking forward for the methods of problem-oriented, student-oriented, discussion and communication and so on. During learning of professional departments, 92.97% of the standardized training residents expected to acquire more profound professional knowledge, and 70.31% of the standardized training residents expected to gain knowledge of the progress of professional diagnosis and treatment. 39.84% of the standardized training residents considered that they could not cope with a single outpatient or emergency clinic. However, only 13.28% of the standardized training residents said that they would carry out relevant emergency treatment. Conclusion The contents, teaching methods and training modes of the standardized resident training need to be further refined and improved.
