Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of warm acupuncture combined with massage and point-pressing therapy at rectus femoris nerve entry point on lower limb motor dysfunction in patients with incomplete lumbar enlargement injury. Methods From March 2016 to December 2018, 48 patients with incomplete lumbar enlargement injury were selected from Massage, Rehabilitation and Acupuncture Clinics and Wards in the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They were divided into observation group (24 cases) and control group (24 cases) according to random number table method. Observation group was treated by warm acupuncture combined with massage and point-pressing therapy at rectus femoris nerve entry point, while control group was treated by acupuncture. The lower extremity motor function, average electromyogram (AEMG) of rectus femoris muscle and daily living ability of two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results After treatment, ASIA motor function score and Fugl-Meyer motor function score in both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment (P < 0.01), and observation group was significantly higher than that control group (P < 0.01). After treatment, AEMG and modified Barthel index scores of rectus femoris in both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment (P < 0.01), and observation group was significantly higher than that control group (P < 0.01). Conclusion Warm acupuncture combined with massage and point-pressing therapy at rectus femoris nerve entry point can improve the motor function of rectus femoris in patients with incomplete lumbar enlargement injury to improve the motor function and daily living ability of lower limbs.
