Abstract:Objective To investigate the feasibility of retrograde ureteral calculi and asymptomatic renal calculi treated by intrarenal operation with ureteroscope. Methods Clinical data of 122 patients with symptomatic ureteral calculi combined with ipisional asymptomatic kidney stones admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University from December 2016 to January 2018 was retrospectively analyzed. According to the treatment method, the patients were divided into two groups, group A (62 cases) dealt with symptomatic ureteral stones and asymptomatic kidney stones, and group B (60 cases) dealt with ureteral stones alone. The perioperative and postoperative clinical features of the two groups were compared. Results The mean stone load, mean length of stay and incidence of complications of the two groups were compared, and the differences were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). The mean operation time and decrease data of hemoglobin in group A were significantly longer or higher than those in group B (P < 0.01). The auxiliary treatment rate and reoperation rate of group B (mean follow-up period > 12 months) were significantly higher than those of group A, with high statistically significant differences (P < 0.01). Conclusion It is safe and effective to treat ipsilateral symptomatic ureteral calculi and asymptomatic renal calculi with retrograde ureteroscopy, without increasing surgical complications.
