Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of small needle knife combined with Modified Shuanghe Decoction in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with syndrome of blockade of phlegm and blood stasis. Methods From January 2018 to January 2019, 60 cases of knee osteoarthritis patients with syndrome of blockade of phlegm and blood stasis admitted to Outpatient Department of Rheumatology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine were selected and randomly divided into needle knife group and Chinese medicine group and needle knife combined with Chinese medicine group by random number table method, with 20 cases in each group. The needle knife group was treated with needle knife release. The Chinese medicine group was treated with Modified Shuanghe Decoction orally. The needle knife combined with Chinese medicine group was treated with Modified Shuanghe Decoction combined with needle knife release. All three groups took 2 months as a course. The knee joint visual analogue scale (VAS) and Lysholm scale before and after treatment and therapeutic effect of Chinese medicine after treatment were observed among the three groups. Results There were no significant differences of VAS score and Lysholm score among the three groups before treatment (P > 0.05). After treatment, the Lysholm score of the needle knife combined with Chinese medicine group was higher than that of the needle knife group and the Chinese medicine group, and the VAS score was lower than that of the needle knife group and the Chinese medicine group, the differences were all statistically significant (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of the needle knife combined with Chinese medicine group was higher than that of the needle knife group and the Chinese medicine group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05), while there was no significant difference of the total effective rate between the needle knife group and the Chinese medicine group (P > 0.05). Conclusion Small needle knife combined with Modified Shuanghe Decoction in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with syndrome of blockade of phlegm and blood stasis can effectively relieve knee pain, improve knee function, control disease development, and enhance patients′ quality of life, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
