Application and effectiveness of PDCA cycle in the improvement of bid success quantity of hospital′s scientific research projects

Abstract:Scientific research provides an inexhaustible driving force for medical technology innovation and discipline development. As a key link to support scientific research, scientific research projects are key indicators for reflecting the level of medical technology in hospitals. It occupies a key position in the evaluation of scientific and technological influence and appraisal of scientific research performance. This paper takes Beijing Chest Hospital, Capital Medical University as an example. Given the low number of scientific research projects, the Department of Science and Technology analyzes the factors affecting the application for scientific research projects by means of the PDCA management method and proposes a direction for solution. In concert with multiple departments, it adopts targeted measures in terms of scientific research tutoring and nurturing, promotion of titles, incentives and performance management to improve the quantity and quality of scientific research projects, thereby enhancing the number of successful bids for scientific research projects. The paper has the opinion that the PDCA theory is feasible in the improvement of the number of successful bids for scientific research projects. The number of scientific research projects has steadily improved, and the new multi-sector linkage measures adopted in the specific problem-solving have achieved remarkable results. PDCA management can be applied to scientific research management, and, in cooperation with multiple departments, enhance the medical research level in hospitals and facilitate the sustainable development of disciplines.
