Research progress on new mechanisms of insulin resistance

Abstract:Insulin resistance is related to the occurrence and development of various metabolic diseases such as polycystic ovary syndrome, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and type two diabetes mellitus. With the improvement of living standards, the probability of obesity and insulin resistance is increasing. The research on insulin sensitivity has received increasing attention, with a focus on the mechanism of insulin resistance. At present, the mechanism of insulin resistance is not only lipid overload and inflammation, but also a series of stress reactions, molecular level mutations of substances in the insulin signaling pathway, autophagy, and intestinal microbiota imbalance. The published articles on the mechanism of insulin resistance are not comprehensive enough, therefore, this article reviews the existing mechanisms of insulin resistance from multiple aspects mentioned above.
