Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of β-elemene on inflammatory response and immune factor interferon-γ (INF-γ) in patients with lung adenocarcinoma after chemotherapy. Methods Ninety-two patients with lung adenocarcinoma treated in Hai’an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February 2018 to January 2021 were selected and they were divided into study group and control group according to random number table method, with 46 cases in each group. The control group received postoperative chemotherapy (Carboplatin combined with Pemetrexed), and the study group received β-elemene therapy on the basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy, serum interleukin-2 (IL-2), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), carbohydrate antigen 199 (CA199), IFN-γ, and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results There were three cases fell of in the control group during the study. The clinical effect of the study group was better than control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of TNF-α, IL-2, and CA199 in two groups were lower than before treatment (P<0.05), and those of the study group were lower than control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the INF-γ level in two groups was higher than before treatment (P<0.05), and the study group was higher than control group (P< 0.05). There were no differences in the grade distribution of phlebitis, liver and kidney damage, and digestive tract reaction between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion β-elemene is effective in the treatment of patients with lung adenocarcinoma after chemotherapy. It can reduce inflammatory response, regulate the level of tumor markers, improve immune function, and is safe and reliable.
