Abstract:Chronic recurrent ulcerative colitis is a commonly encountered subtype of ulcerative colitis within clinical practice, known for its persistent and refractory characteristics. Professor Li Junxiang from Dongfang Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine emphasizes that the underlying cause of chronic recurrent ulcerative colitis resides in the insufficiency of both the spleen and kidney, giving rise to symptoms of dampness and heat obstruction, as well as qi-stagnation and blood stasis. Primary therapeutic strategies encompass the elimination of dampness and heat, facilitation of blood circulation to alleviate blood stasis, and fortification of kidney and spleen functions. Drawing upon extensive clinical experience and a comprehensive assimilation of medical knowledge across various historical periods, Professor Li Junxiang has refined the traditional Wumei Pills Prescription from the Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases by incorporating personalized adjustments. This innovative approach, known as the New Wumei Pills Prescription, has demonstrated remarkable efficacy in clinical practice, yielding favorable treatment outcomes. This paper mainly encapsulates the theoretical underpinnings and facilitates a clinical discourse concerning the treatment of chronic recurrent ulcerative colitis with the New Wumei Pills Prescription. Furthermore, a validated case is appended to furnish empirical substantiation.
