Abstract:Objective To study the clinical efficacy of acupuncture trigger points in the treatment of acute ankle sprain based on the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine meridian theory. Methods Fifty patients with unilateral acute ankle sprain who visited Yangguang 100 Community Health Service Center from January 2021 to March 2022 were selected and they were divided into control group and treatment group by random number table method, with 25 cases in each group. The control group were treated with ankle triple needle therapy, while the treatment group were treated with acupuncture trigger point therapy. Both groups were treated once every other day, a total of 5 times, with a period of 10 days. The clinical efficacy, visual analogue scale (VAS) score, ankle-hind foot function score, and ankle swelling score were compared between the two groups. Results The clinical effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the ankle VAS and swelling scores of both groups were lower than before treatment, and the ankle-hind foot function scores were higher than before treatment, and the ankle pain VAS scores and swelling scores of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group, and the ankle-hind foot function score was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The use of acupuncture trigger points has a significant therapeutic effect on acute ankle sprain, which can effectively eliminate tissue swelling and improve ankle joint mobility.
