Abstract:Objective To explore the changes of serum vitamin D (Vit D) level and its correlation with insulin resistance (IR) and inflammatory response in pregnancy. Methods A total of 53 pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) were selected as experimental group from the Xishan People’s Hospital of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”) from January 2020 to December 2021, another 53 normal pregnant women in our hospital during the same period were selected as control group. The clinical data in both groups were recorded; the levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG), fasting insulin (FINS), Homeostasis model evaluation method-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D), hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in both groups were compared; the correlation between serum 25(OH)D and each index was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. Results The level of 25(OH)D in experimental group was lower than that in control group, the levels of FBG, FINS, TG, HOMA-IR, hs-CRP, TNF-α, and IL-6 in experimental group were higher than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The level of serum 25(OH)D was negatively correlated with FBG, FINS, TG, HOMA-IR, CRP, TNF-α, and IL-6(r<1,P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with healthy pregnant women, the level of Vit D in GDM pregnant is significantly decreased, which may be one of the important factors causing inflammation, IR and abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism, etc. Clinical attention should be paid to the changes of Vit D level in GDM pregnant.
