Clinical effect of Tongxie Decoction on ulcerative colitis of damp-heat type of spleen and stomach

Abstract：Objective To explore the clinical effect of Tongxie Decoction on the treatment of ulcerative colitis of damp-heat type of spleen and stomach. Methods A total of 88 patients with ulcerative colitis of damp-heat type of spleen and stomach admitted to Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2021 to August 2022 were selected and they were divided into observation group and control group by random number table method, with 44 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Enteric Coated Sulfamethoxazole Tablets, while the observation group was treated with Tongxie Decoction on the basic of control group. A total of 15 days as a course of treatment, after three courses of treatment, clinical efficacy, the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, intestinal mucosal barrier function, and treatment safety of the two groups were compared. Results The clinical effect of observation group was better than control group, the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05). After treatment, the scores of diarrhea and blood stool, posterior gravity, anal burning, and tongue red and moss yellow in two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the observation group were lower than those in control group, the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05). After treatment, the levels of diamine oxidase, endotoxin, and D-lactic acid in two groups were lower than before treatment, and the observation group were lower than those in control group, the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion Tongxie Decoction has a significant therapeutic effect on ulcerative colitis of deep-heat type of spleen and stomach, which can improve traditional Chinese medicine syndrome and enhance intestinal mucosal barrier function.
