Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of acupuncture and massage along the meridian in the treatment of spastic cerebral palsy in children. Methods A total of 90 children with spastic cerebral palsy admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to April 2022 were selected and they were divided into the control group and the study group according to the random number table, with 45 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with routine rehabilitation. The control group was treated with Botulinum Toxin A on this basis, and the study group was treated with acupuncture and massage along meridians on the basis of the control group. After three months of treatment, the clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated, and the clinical spasticity index (CSI), fine motor development motor scale-fine motor (PDMS-FM), gross motor function (GMFM), and modified Ashworth scale (MAS) scores before and after treatment were compared. Results The clinical efficacy of the study group was better than that of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of PDMS-FM and GMFM in the two groups were higher than those before treatment, and the study group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the upper and lower limb MAS scores in the two groups were lower than before treatment, and the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of clonus, muscle tension, tendon reflex, and CSI in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture and massage along meridians has a better therapeutic effect on children with spastic cerebral palsy, which can effectively alleviate the muscle spasticity and improve the motor function of children.
