Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of group class-based sensory integration training in male patients with chronic schizophrenia. Methods A total of 80 male patients with chronic schizophrenia treated in Wuhu Fourth People’s Hospital, Anhui Province from July to December 2021 were selected and divided into control group and experimental group according to random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received conventional sensory integration training, and the experimental group received group class-based sensory integration training. The intervention time of both groups was three months. The scores of the brief psychiatric rating scale (BPRS), social disability screening schedule (SDSS), nurses observation scale for inpatient evaluation-30 (NOSIE-30), schizophrenia quality of life scale (SQLS), self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), and self-rating depression scale (SDS) were compared before and after the intervention. The differences between scores of measurement and treatment research to improve cognition in schizophrenia consensus cognitive battery of two groups after intervention were compared. Results After intervention, the BPRS, SDSS, SQLS, SAS, and SDS scores of the two groups were lower than those before intervention, and those of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the NOSIE-30 scores of the two groups were higher than those before intervention, and those of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). The scores of categorical fluency, continuous operation, spatial span, spatial memory, word learning, and emotion management in experimental group were higher than those in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Sensory integration training based on group class not only improves the initiative and self-care ability of male patients with chronic schizophrenia, but also improves the cognitive function of the patients.
