Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of modified bone traction device on patients with lower limb fractures. Methods A total of 120 patients who underwent bone traction of lower limb in the Sixth People’s Hospital Affiliated to the Medical College of Shanghai Jiao Tong University from March to December 2021 were selected and divided into improved group and control group by random number table method, with 60 cases in each group. The control group used traditional bone traction device for bone traction, and the improved group used modified bone traction device for bone traction. Numeric rating scale (NRS) was used to evaluate the pain level before traction, loading, and unloading of traction arch, and general comfort questionnaire (GCQ) was used to evaluate the comfort of the two groups before and after traction. The operation time of bone traction device, the amount of bleeding, the incidence of pressure injury, and the satisfaction of hospitalized patients were compared between the two groups. Results The NRS scores of the two groups during loading and unloading of the traction arch were higher than those before traction, and the NRS scores of improved group were lower than those of the control group during loading and unloading of the traction arch, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After traction, the GCQ scores of the two groups were lower than those before traction, and the GCQ scores of the improved group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The operation time of the bone traction device in the improved group was shorter than that in the control group, the amount of bleeding was lower than that in the control group, and the satisfaction of hospitalized patients was better than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of pressure injury between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The application of modified bone traction device in patients with lower limb bone traction can reduce pain, save operation time, and improve comfort and satisfaction.
