Abstract:Objective To establish a quality evaluation method for Smilax glabra Roxb. Methods Similarities for various batches were evaluated based on ultra performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) fingerprint chromatography. The detection method for astilbin was set up, with contents of moisture, ethanol-based extractives, and water-based extractives of Smilax glabra Roxb. being detected as well. Results A total of eight common peaks were demarcated in UPLC fingerprint of Smilax glabra Roxb., five of which were identified. The astilbin content exhibited good linearity was 2.024-202.355 μg/ml, the average recovery was 99.35%, and the RSD value was 0.573%. Grey correlation analysis showed that the quality of (light) red brown poria was better. By clustering analysis, the (light) red-brown Tuckahoe was classified as the first group, and the other white Tuckahoe was classified as the second group; according to the importance projection value, the markers were selected as astilbin, alcohol extract and water by orthogonal partial least square discriminant analysis. Conclusion This method can effectively differentiate between qualities of different colors and provide quality evaluation basis for Smilax glabra Roxb.
