Clinical effect of Yishen Huoxue Jiedu Decoction combined with press-needle on peripheral neuropathy in patients with multiple myeloma of kidney deficiency and blood stasis type

Abstract：Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Yishen Huoxue Jiedu Decoction combined with press-needle on peripheral neuropathy in patients with multiple myeloma of kidney deficiency and blood stasis type. Methods A total of 80 peripheral neuropathy patients with multiple myeloma of kidney deficiency and blood stasis type in Langfang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hebei Province from October 2019 to August 2022 were selected and divided into control group and study group according to random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was given the western medicine Mecobalamin and Folic acid nutritional nerve treatment, and the study group was treated with Yishen Huoxue Jiedu Decoction combined with press-needle on the basis of oral nutritional nerve treatment. Both groups were treated for two courses. The improvement of peripheral neuropathy grading, immune function, quality of life (Karnofsky performance status [KPS], pain degree numerical rating scale [NRS], Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale [PSQI], Hamilton anxiety scale [HAMA]), and traditional Chinese medicine symptom score of the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the grade of peripheral neuropathy in the two groups was better than before treatment, and the study group was better than the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment, CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ in the study group were higher than before treatment, and those in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). CD8+ in the study group was lower than that before treatment, and that in the study group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment, the KPS score of the two groups was higher than before treatment, and that of the study group was higher than that of the control group (P＜0.05). NRS, PSQI, and HAMA scores of the two groups were lower than before treatment, and those of the study group were lower than those of the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment, the scores of hand and foot numbness, sensory disturbance, limb pain, and cold aggravation in both groups were lower than before treatment, and those in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion Yishen Huoxue Jiedu Decoction combined with press-needle has good clinical efficacy on peripheral neuropathy in patients with multiple myeloma of kidney deficiency and blood stasis type, improving peripheral neuropathy, regulating immune function, improving sleep quality and anxiety, and improving patients’ quality of life.
