Abstract:This paper takes Shanghan Zabing Lun, one of the four classics of traditional Chinese medicine, as an example to analyze its concept, language, and theory of traditional Chinese medicine from the perspective of conceptual metaphor and image schema theory in cognitive linguistics. The research holds that ancient people unknowingly took the familiar and simple things or phenomena in the brain as the original domain, and the abstract and complex traditional Chinese medicine theory as the target domain, and carried out psychological mapping with the help of basic human image schema-container schema, up-middle-down schema, original-path-end schema, center-to-edge schema, and so on-to form a series of conceptual metaphors which makes the latter easier to describe and understand.
