Application of self-adhesive soft silicone foam dressing combined with 3M transparent dressing in nursing care of patients with cirrhotic ascites

Abstract：Objective To explore the application of self-adhesive soft silicone foam dressing（Mepilex Lite） combined with 3M transparent dressing in nursing care of patients with cirrhotic ascites. Methods This study used a prospective randomized controlled trial. A total of 100 patients with cirrhosis ascites who underwent peritoneal catheterization in the Department of Gastroenterology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from January 2020 to June 2022 were included. According to random number table method, the patients were divided into intervention group and control group, with 50 cases in each group. In the intervention group, Mepilex Lite combined with 3M transparent dressing was used to cover the puncture point of abdominal catheterization after abdominal catheterization, in the control group, only 3M transparent dressing was used to cover the puncture point after abdominal catheterization. The occurrence of adverse reactions at puncture points, such as body temperature, local bleeding and fluid exudation at puncture points, subcutaneous hematoma, tube slippage, pain degree during excipient replacement, dressing replacement frequency, patients’ subjective feelings and tube maintenance cost were compared between the two groups. Results The body temperature and visual analog score of the intervention group were lower than that of the control group, and the pipeline maintenance cost was lower than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05). The dressing changing times in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, and the dressing changing interval was longer than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05). Comfort and nursing satisfaction of intervention group were better than control group, the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05). The total incidence of adverse reactions in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05). Conclusion The application of Mepilex Lite combined with 3M transparent dressing in patients with ascites of cirrhosis with intraperitoneal catheterization is remarkable. The incidence of adverse reactions such as local exudation, exudation and subcutaneous hematoma is lower, the body temperature remained stable, and the degree of pain was reduced, comfort and satisfaction of nursing was higher.
