Effect of traditional Chinese medicine hot compress nursing on comfort and satisfaction of patients during colonoscopy

Abstract:Objective To explore the influence of traditional Chinese medicine hot compress nursing on comfort level and satisfaction of patients during colonoscopy. Methods A total of 168 patients who underwent colonoscopy in Wangjing Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from March to May 2022 were selected and divided into observation group and control group by random number table method, with 84 patients in each group. The control group received routine colonoscopy nursing, while the observation group was given traditional Chinese medicine hot compress nursingbefore colonoscopy operation on the basis of routine nursing. The total score of abdominal pain and abdominal distension in colonoscopy was used to evaluate the relieving effect of traditional Chinese medicine hot compress nursing on abdominal pain and abdominal distension during colonoscopy. Before and after colonoscopy, the state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) in the state-trait anxiety questionnaire was used to evaluate the influence of traditional Chinese medicine hot compress nursing on the emotional state of patients, and the satisfaction score was used to investigate the acceptance of traditional Chinese medicine hot compress nursing, the satisfaction of colonoscopy experience, and the willingness to accept colonoscopy again. Results The total score of abdominal pain and abdominal distension in the observation group were lower than those in the control group during colonoscopy, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After detection, S-AI scores of the two groups were lower than those before detection, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After detection, there was no significant difference in S-AI score between the two groups (P>0.05). There were no significant differences in the satisfaction of colonoscopy experience and the acceptance score of re-colonoscopy between the two groups (P>0.05). There were no obvious abnormalities in heart rate, blood pressure, pulse and respiration in both groups before and after intervention. No other adverse reactions were observed in the two groups. Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine hot compress nursing can relieve abdominal pain and abdominal distension during colonoscopy, improve the examination comfort and patient satisfaction to a certain extent, and the patient acceptance is high, worthy of clinical application.
