Abstract:Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of helper T cell (Th)1/Th2 cytokines in children with respiratory syncytial virus pneumonia (RSVP). Methods A total of 117 RSVP children admitted to Children’s Hospital of Hebei Province (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”) from October 2017 to October 2019 were selected as study group, 117 healthy children in our hospital were selected as control group according to the principle of same sex, age ±2 weeks and 1∶1. According to the severity of the disease, the study group was divided into mild group (73 cases) and moderate and severe group (44 cases). The levels of serum cortisol (Cor), interleukin (IL)-2, interferon -γ (IFN-γ), IL-4, and IL-6 and the expressions of Th1, Th2, and Th1/Th2 were compared among all groups. Results The levels of serum Cor, IL-4, and IL-6 in study group were higher than those in control group, while the levels of IL-2 and IFN-γ were lower than those in control group (P<0.05); the expressions of Th1 and Th1/Th2 in study group were lower than those in control group, while the expression of Th2 was higher than that in control group (P<0.05). The levels of serum Cor, IL-4, and IL-6 in moderate and severe group were higher than those in mild group, while the levels of IL-2 and IFN-γ were lower than those in mild group (P<0.05); the expressions of Th1 and Th1/Th2 in moderate and severe group were lower than those in mild group, while the expression of Th2 was higher than that in mild group (P<0.05). Conclusion RSVP children have Th1/Th2 imbalance and Th2 migration.
