Methods A total of 50 patients with mild to moderate post-stroke depression in the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine from September 2020 to September 2021 were selected and they were divided into the control group (25 cases, treated with acupuncture) and the observation group (25 cases, treated with Huayu Tongluo Moxibustion and acupuncture) according to the random number table method, each group was treated for 2 weeks. The scores of the Hamilton depression rating scale (HAMD), Montgomery asperger depression rating scale (MADRS), activity of daily living (ADL) scale, the level of homocysteine (Hcy) and the clinical efficacy of the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results Before treatment, there were no significant differences in HAMD, MADRS, ADL scores, and serum Hcy levels between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, HAMD and MADRS scores of the two groups were lower than before treatment, ADL score was higher than before treatment, and HAMD and MADRS scores of the observation group were lower than control group, ADL score was higher than control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the serum Hcy level of the two groups was lower than before treatment, and the observation group was lower than the control group (P<0.05). The clinical efficacy of the observation group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The clinical symptoms in the patients of mild to moderate post-stroke depression treated with Huayu Tongluo Moxibustion is improved significantly. The efficacy is good. It is worthy of promotion and application.
