Abstract:Objective To understand the current situation of nurses’ demand for further training in tertiary care hospitals in Tianjin, to explore the correlation between them and nurses’ professional identity and sense of professional benefit, and to provide reference and direction for constructing training and education programs to improve nurses’ continuing education needs in tertiary care hospitals in Tianjin. Methods From November to December 2021, a total of 341 nurses from seven tertiary level A hospitals in Tianjin were selected as the study population by convenience sampling method, and questionnaires were administered using the general information questionnaire, the demands assessmant scale of refresher nurses (DASRN), the occupational identity scale (OIS), and the sense of professional benefit scale (SPBS). Results The total score of nurses’ demand for further training in tertiary care hospitals in Tianjin was (82.12±12.83) points, the total score of professional identity was (120.55±21.07) points, and the total score of sense of professional benefit was (138.67±19.82) points, all three of which were in the middle to upper level. The differences were statistically significant when comparing the total DASRN scores by education level, technical title, length of service, and position(P<0.05). The total DASRN score and dimensions of nurses were positively correlated with the total OIS score and dimensions and the total SPBS score and dimensions (r>0, P<0.05). Conclusion It is suggested that hospital administrators should pay attention to nurses’ further education and training, improve the system of nurses’ further education and training, and enhance their professional identity and professional benefits in multiple ways, so as to satisfy their further education needs to the greatest extent.
