Abstract:Objective To explore the value of diversified health education in school-aged children with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Methods Seventy-two school-aged children with DCM admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University from January 2019 to June 2020 were selected and divided into observation and control groups of 36 cases each using the random number table method. The control group was implemented conventional health education, while the observation group was implemented diversified health education on this basis. The two groups were followed up for six months to compare the compliance behavior and cardiac function. Results The control group completed follow-up in 36 cases and the observation group completed follow-up in 34 cases. At six-month follow-up, the compliance rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). The left ventricular end-diastolic internal diameter (LVDD) and left atrial end-diastolic anteroposterior diameter (LADD) were lower, and the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and left ventricular short-axis shortening rate (LVFS) in the two groups were higher than those at the time of enrollment, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05); while the LVDD and LADD in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the LVEF and LVFS in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion Diversified health education can help promote compliance behaviors and improve cardiac function in school-aged children with DCM.
