Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of exercise prescription training based on cardiopulmonary exercise test in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods A total of 128 elderly patients with COPD admitted to Huaian First Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from November 2019 to November 2021 were selected and divided into control group (64 cases) and experimental group (64 cases) by random number table method. The control group was given routine nursing, while the experimental group was given exercise prescription training based on cardiopulmonary exercise test on the baseic of control group. Both groups were intervened for six weeks. The changes of exercise endurance, lung function, and quality of life before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results After intervention, the six-minute walking test, exercise duration, maximum exercise power, forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), and FEV1/FVC in the two groups were higher than those before intervention, and the experimental group was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After intervention, the symptoms, activity limitation, and disease scores of St.George’s respiratory questionnaire in the two groups were lower than those before intervention, and the experimental group was lower than the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion In elderly patients with COPD, exercise prescription training based on cardiopulmonary exercise test can improve exercise endurance, promote the recovery of lung function and improve the quality of life.
