Clinical effect of Xuanfei Zhisou Mixture in the treatment of post infectious cough of wind evil invading lung type#br#

[Abstract] Objective To observe the clinical effects of Xuanfei Zhisou Mixture in the treatment of post infectious cough (wind evil invading lung type) and the impacts on inflammation. Methods From October 2021 to March 2022, 102 cases with post infectious cough（wind evil invading lung type） were enrolled in the First Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine of Beijing, and they were divided into control group and obseruation group according to the random number table method, with 51 cases in each group. The control group received Suhuang Zhike Capsules, the obseruation group received Xuanfei Zhisou Mixture. All treated for seven days. The clinical efficacy, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score and inflammatory factor C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-8 (IL-8), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in sputum before and after treatment were compared between the two groups, and the adverse reactions of the two groups were recorded. Results After treatment, the scores of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms in the two groups were decreased, and the cough score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P ＜ 0.05); there were no significant differences in the scores of choking, itching, coughing, and exacerbation of cough when exposed to wind between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05). After treatment, the levels of CRP, IL-8 and TNF-α in the two groups were decreased, and the level of IL-8 in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P ＜ 0.05); and there were no significant differences in CRP and TNF-α between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05). There was no significant difference in clinical efficacy between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05). There were no obvious adverse reactions in the two groups. Conclusion Xuanfei Zhisou Mixture is effective and safe in treating post infectious cough (wind evil invading lung type), and is worthy of widely clinical use.
