Abstract：Traditional Chinese medicine image thinking is the core thinking method to understand traditional Chinese medicine theory and guide clinical application. Using image thinking to distinguish and treat multiple sclerosis (MS) is the development and continuation of traditional Chinese medicine clinical diagnosis and treatment, inheritance and innovation. This paper analyzes the pathogenesis and clinical treatment of MS based on image thinking, and fully interprets the application of image thinking in the syndrome differentiation and treatment of MS, including “taking images abstracting from viewing”, “comparing images with categories” , and “taking images to understand the meaning”. Using the image thinking to summarize the symptoms and functional characteristics of MS, it is proposed that the clinical symptom of MS in traditional Chinese medicine is “flaccidity”. Combined with the original thinking of traditional Chinese medicine, it is concluded that “poison” is the key pathogenesis of MS. To guide the clinical treatment of MS with “flaccidity” and “poison”, and to use the method of “benefiting kidney, removing toxicity substance, and dredging collateral” is the extension and expansion of syndrome differentiation and diagnosis, which is of great significance to guide clinical practice and promote theoretical research and innovation.
