Abstract:Objective To explore the value of tolerance assessment to guide nutritional management in patients with rectostomy. Methods A random sampling method was used to select 200 patients with rectostomy in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from December 2019 to December 2020. They were divided into experimental group (100 cases) and control group (100 cases) by random number table method. The experimental group was given tolerance assessment to guide nutritional management, while the control group was given routine nutritional care intervention. Before the intervention and after six weeks of intervention, the improvement of nutritional status, the discoloration, erosion, tissue overgronth (DET) score around the stoma and the gastrointestinal function status were compared between the two groups. Results After six weeks of intervention, the body weight, body mass index, body fat percentage, body fat, and grip strength in the two groups were higher than those before the intervention, while those of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The improvement of the skin around the stoma in the experimental group was better than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The time of the first stoma exhaust, the first stoma defecation time, the recovery time of bowel sounds, and the time of the first eating in the experimental group were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Tolerance assessment is used to guide nutritional management in patients with rectostomy, improve the nutritional status of the body, maintain the integrity of the skin around the stoma, and promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function.
