Abstract:Patch-clamp recording technology is the core technology in neuroelectrophysiological research, and it is an important technical means to detect the firing activity of excitable cells (neurons and cardiomyocytes, etc.) at the single cell level in the field of basic scientific research. In addition, due to the authority and accuracy of patch-clamp technology in the study of physiological functions at the cell level, the study and mastery of this technology for medical undergraduates will greatly promote the understanding and application of the chapter “basic functions of cells”, and lay a good foundation for the subsequent theoretical study. Currently, due to the high hardware requirement and complex operation procedures, it is still very difficult to apply this technique in the experimental course of medical undergraduate students. The department of physiology in the Army Medical University (hereinafter referred to as “our school”) has applied patch-clamp recording in scientific research for a long time. On this basis, the department of physiology of our school has made efforts to apply this important technique in the experimental course of undergraduate students who major in biotechnology first, and then apply it in the physiological innovation experimental class of medical undergraduate students in recent years. In this process, the department of physiology of our school aim at arousing the students’ interest for basic research and cultivating their innovative practice ability. Here, the present papers have summarized the contents, methods, as well as experiences during this teaching exploration, in order to further improve the introduction of patch-clamp recording technique into the experimental course of undergraduate students.
