Abstract:Objective To investigate the application effect of absorbable gelatin sponge in pediatric circumcision aged 5 to 12 years. Methods From May to August 2020, a total of 120 children who from the urology clinic of the National Hospital of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture were selected and divided into two groups according to the random number table method, with 60 cases in each group. The incision in observation group was covered with absorbent gelatin sponge and self-adhesive bandage, while the incision in the control group were covered with gauze and self-adhesive bandage the operation time, surgical blood loss, and ease of dressing removal on the third day after operation, visual analogue scale (VAS) score when dressing removal, incision bleeding after dressing removal, wound edema time, titanium nail complete shedding time, complete healing time, family satisfaction, and complications were compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in operation time, surgical blood loss, titanium nail complete shedding time, and complete healing time between the two groups (P > 0.05). Compared with the control group, the observation group was easier to remove the dressing on the third day after operation was decreased, the VAS pain score when dressing removal and the bleeding rate of incision after dressing removal were decreased in the observation group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The postoperative wound edema time in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The postoperative satisfaction of observation group was higher than that of control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the number of postoperative complications between the two groups, and the differences were statistically significant (P > 0.05). Conclusion Absorbable gelatin sponge can greatly reduce the pain of dressing change after circumcision in children, and it is easier to remove dressings during dressing change, reduce incision tears and bleeding caused by adhesions during dressing change, and increase the satisfaction of children’s families, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
