Abstract:Objective To investigate the research status, hotspots, and future trends of olfactory ensheathing cells transplantation in the treatment of spinal cord injury in the past 20 years. Methods Literatures published in 1999 to 2021 were retrieved in the core collection of Web of Science with the subject words “spinal injur *” and “OEC” or “OECs”, bibliometric analysis and visual analysis were carried out based on CiteSpace. Results A total of 370 articles were included, including 324 works. From 2002 to 2013, the number of published papers showed an increasing trend year by year, and then the annual number of published papers remained stable in the region. CELL TRANSPLANTATION, EXPERIMENTAL NEUROLOGY, and GLIA were the top three journals with the largest number of publications. St John JA, Griffith University, and China ranked first in terms of authors, institutions, and countries respectively. Keywords are Schwann cells, functional repair, in vitro, transplantation, glia, regeneration, axonal regeneration, etc. Conclusion CiteSpace software is used to visually analyze the relevant literature on olfactory ensheathing cells transplantation in the treatment of spinal cord injury, to show the current research status and hot spots in this field, and to provide certain data reference for scholars in related fields in the future.
