Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of intervention plan based on hope theory applied to breast cancer patients during chemotherapy. Methods A total of 80 breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy were selected from the Department of Nail and Breast Surgery, Bozhou People’s Hospital from January 2020 to Jun 2021, and they were divided into hope nursing group (40 cases, nursing intervention based on hope theory) and routine group (40 cases, routine nursing only) by random number table method. The incidence of chemotherapy toxicity, symptom distress, hope level and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of nausea vomiting and diarrhea in nursing group was lower than that in conventional group (P < 0.05). After intervention, symptom distress in the hope nursing group was lower than before intervention, symptom distress in the conventional group was higher than before intervention, and symptom distress in the hope nursing group was lower than the conventional group (P < 0.05). After intervention, Herth hope index (HHI) scores in both groups were higher than those before intervention, functional assessment cancerthrapy (FACT-G) scale scores in hope nursing group were higher than those before intervention, HHI and FACt-G scale scores in hope nursing group were higher than those in conventional group (P < 0.05). Conclusion The intervention plan based on hope theory can relieve the symptoms caused by chemotherapy and improve the quality of life of breast cancer patients.
